How Like-Minded Communities Affect Our Nervous System
One of the most underrated aspects of coming together with like-minded people is the safety it can cultivate in our nervous system. The more time we spend with individuals who can regulate their emotions, the easier it becomes for us to regulate our own.
The Stress of Negative Environments
When we relentlessly watch the news, spend time with people who have a negative and aggressive perspective, or hang out with individuals who make us feel uncomfortable, we train ourselves to feel stressed and anxious. All of this is happening below the level of our conscious mind. It’s occurring in our nervous system, and these unconscious processes influence how we think and feel.
Safe People as a Form of Self-Care
Seeking out safe people is a powerful form of self-care. By connecting with our internal processes, we can more easily decipher which relationships are good for our health and which are not.
Creating a Supportive Community: My Vision for Hike~Breathe~Chat
When I envisioned the Hike~Breathe~Chat events, I wanted to create the kind of safe, supportive community I’ve needed in the past and continue to value today. Finding Safety in Connection
Breathwork is a powerful way to reconnect with ourselves and with others. It helps us tune into what our bodies are telling us and makes it easier to understand our emotions. That’s why creating a safe space where you feel seen, heard, and supported is so important—it’s where real connection and healing can happen.
